  • Why can't I invest in every portfolio?

We recently made changes to the minimum allocation of each portfolio. While we try making investing accommodating to everyone, our team is mindful of the number of trades each portfolio generates and the negative consequences such nuisance trades can have. Since we use fractional shares to get as close to your desired investment amount as possible, raising the minimum to 15% allows us to generate these fractional shares more effectively and execute them more efficiently.

  • How do I close my flexible Swell Account (non-IRA)?

We're sad to see you go!

To close your account, first, log into your account on our website. Then, please click on "Manage Accounts" from the "Settings & Info" tab at the bottom of the page, you'll then be prompted to close your account.

  • I used a promo code - when will I see my funds in my Swell account?

It takes 5-7 business days for the funds to land -- once they do, you can invest them by logging in to your account and selecting the "Invest" option from the "Manage Mix" dropdown on the navigation bar. You'll see an option to invest from your account's cash balance (where the funds will be sitting).

  • How do I know my IRA account type?

You can find your Swell account type by logging in to your account and selecting the "Manage Accounts" option from the "Settings & Info" option from the navigation bar. You will find your account type(s) listed on the following page.

If you want to determine the type of IRA you hold at another investment firm, check one of your account statements -- it's typically listed there.

If you can't access your statements, you can reach out to your current provider. Knowing your account type before transferring an account is key to transferring it into the correct account here at Swell. For example, if you currently have a Roth IRA, your assets will be transferred to a Roth IRA.
